How to connect Bambu Lab A2L to Printer Tools for mobile monitoring
Bambu Lab A2L · Mobile monitoring
The short answer
Add the Bambu Lab A2L to Printer Tools with its local IP address, serial number and LAN Access Code. Print status, temperatures, the monitoring camera and connected AMS hardware appear automatically after the printer connects. Normal monitoring does not require LAN Only Mode or Developer Mode, so Bambu Handy and its notifications can keep working.
What you need
- Printer Tools installed on Android, iPhone, iPad or Mac
- The A2L and your phone, tablet or computer connected to the same reachable local network
- The printer's IP address, serial number and LAN Access Code
- LAN Only Mode and Developer Mode only if you want advanced write actions such as axis homing
Connect the A2L to Printer Tools
- 1
Keep the normal Bambu cloud connection
Leave LAN Only Mode and Developer Mode off for everyday monitoring. The A2L can remain connected to Bambu Cloud for Bambu Handy while Printer Tools communicates with it over your local network.
- 2
Copy the local connection details
Open the network or LAN settings on the A2L and note its IP address and LAN Access Code. Copy the serial number from Device Information or the printer label. The serial number and Access Code are separate values.
- 3
Add a Bambu Lab printer
Open Printer Tools, go to Settings, choose Printers and select Add Bambu Lab. Enter the A2L IP address, serial number and Access Code, then save the printer.
- 4
Check the mobile dashboard
Open the A2L in the Dashboard. Live status, progress, layers and temperatures should begin updating once the local connection is ready.
- 5
Open the automatically detected camera and filament panels
Open the camera and filament sections to confirm the A2L monitoring feed and any connected AMS hardware. Printer Tools configures these panels from the model and the capabilities reported by the printer.
The A2L mobile dashboard in Printer Tools

Real screens from the Bambu Lab integration in Printer Tools. The A2L uses this shared dashboard structure, while the exact values, AMS slots and controls depend on the connected hardware and installed firmware.
What works with the A2L
- Live print state, progress, current layer, elapsed time and remaining time
- Nozzle and bed temperatures plus the telemetry reported by the A2L
- The A2L monitoring camera through its local TCP JPEG feed
- AMS units, filament slots, colors and materials reported by the printer
- Printer alerts, HMS information and light control
- Compatible print actions without replacing Bambu Studio for slicing and job preparation
If the A2L does not connect
The dashboard stays empty
Recheck the IP address, serial number and Access Code. Confirm that Printer Tools has local-network permission and that both devices can reach each other. Guest Wi-Fi, client isolation and VLAN rules can block local printer traffic.
Authentication fails
Enter the serial number and Access Code again without extra spaces. If the Access Code changed on the A2L, update the saved printer in Printer Tools.
The camera does not load
Confirm that the A2L camera is available on the printer, close other camera viewers temporarily and reopen the camera in Printer Tools. Also check that the local network is not isolating the two devices.
AMS information is missing
Wait for the A2L and AMS hardware to finish starting, then reopen the filament section. Printer Tools displays only the units and slots reported by the printer.
An advanced control does not respond
Some write actions such as axis homing may require both LAN Only Mode and Developer Mode. Normal status, camera, AMS and light monitoring do not.
Monitor the A2L away from home
A VPN back to your home network can preserve the same local Printer Tools connection when you are away. Printer Tools also supports OctoEverywhere and Obico as optional managed remote-access services. Do not expose the printer's MQTT, file or camera ports directly on your router.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need LAN Only Mode to monitor the A2L?
No. Normal print monitoring, camera viewing, AMS information and light control can work while the A2L remains connected to Bambu Cloud.
Do I configure the A2L camera separately?
No. Printer Tools recognizes the A2L and selects its local TCP JPEG camera transport automatically after the printer is added.
Can I keep Bambu Handy notifications?
Yes. Leave LAN Only Mode off and the A2L can keep its Bambu Cloud connection while Printer Tools monitors it locally.
Is Printer Tools available on Android and Apple devices?
Yes. The main app is available on Android, iPhone, iPad and Mac, with companion experiences for Wear OS and Apple Watch where supported.
