How to enable Bambu Lab LAN Only Liveview for local camera access
A Bambu Lab printer can report temperatures, progress and AMS data to Printer Tools while its stock camera still refuses the connection. On current models and firmware, the missing step can be a separate printer setting named LAN Only Liveview.
This setting is not the same as full LAN Only mode. It permits the local camera service needed by compatible apps while the printer can remain connected to Bambu Cloud and Bambu Handy.
Enable the setting on the printer
Use the printer touchscreen, not the mobile app:
- Open Settings.
- Open Network.
- Enable LAN Only Liveview.
- Leave full LAN Only mode disabled if you want to keep Bambu Cloud and Bambu Handy.
- Return to Printer Tools and open the printer camera again.
The wording may vary slightly with firmware, but the important distinction is between the Liveview permission and the mode that moves the whole printer to LAN-only operation.
Why telemetry can work while the camera fails
Printer Tools does not use one connection for every feature. Bambu printer status is read through the local MQTT interface, while the camera uses a separate local stream and port. The printer can therefore accept MQTT and reject the camera connection at the same time.
A log that shows correct model detection and an RTSPS attempt followed by a refused camera connection points to reachability or the printer-side Liveview permission. Reinstalling the app does not change that printer setting.
You do not need full LAN Only mode
Full LAN Only mode changes how the printer participates in Bambu services. It is not required merely to let Printer Tools display the stock camera. Keep it disabled unless a different workflow explicitly requires it.
With only LAN Only Liveview enabled, normal local monitoring can coexist with Bambu Handy. Printer Tools still communicates directly with the printer on the reachable local network and does not proxy the camera through a Printer Tools server.
Reopen the camera after changing the setting
Close the current Live View and open it again so the app makes a new connection. If it still fails, confirm that the saved IP address and LAN Access Code are current. You normally do not need to delete the printer, clear app data or reinstall Printer Tools.
If the router has assigned a new IP address, edit the printer or add a DHCP reservation before repeating the test. Also check that the phone and printer are not separated by guest Wi-Fi, client isolation or a VLAN rule.
Protect the LAN Access Code
The local camera URL can contain credentials derived from the printer configuration. Do not publish that URL, the LAN Access Code or an unredacted diagnostic payload. When asking for support, use Printer Tools’ encrypted log export and describe the model, firmware and exact symptom separately.
Models that use the local Liveview permission
The separate permission is especially relevant to newer Bambu Lab families whose main monitoring stream uses RTSPS, including X2D and H2-series models. Firmware behavior can differ, so follow the setting shown by the touchscreen of the exact printer.
Printer Tools selects the native camera transport from the detected model. You should not replace the stock camera with a manually entered external RTSP URL.

Frequently asked questions
Is LAN Only Liveview the same as LAN Only mode?
No. Liveview enables local access to the camera. Full LAN Only mode changes the printer’s overall cloud connectivity.
Will Bambu Handy keep working?
Yes, provided you leave full LAN Only mode disabled and the printer remains connected to Bambu Cloud.
Do I need to reinstall Printer Tools?
No. Enable the printer setting, then reopen the camera. Reinstalling cannot enable a permission stored on the printer.
Why does the dashboard work but the camera does not?
Telemetry and camera video use different local services. One can be available while the other is disabled or blocked.
