How to keep Bambu Handy while using Printer Tools locally
Using Printer Tools locally does not require choosing between it and Bambu Handy. The printer can remain connected to Bambu Cloud while Printer Tools reads its supported local services on the same reachable network.
The setting that commonly causes confusion is full LAN Only mode. Local Printer Tools monitoring does not require enabling it, and newer printers provide a separate LAN Only Liveview switch for camera access.
Keep full LAN Only mode disabled
If you want Bambu Handy, cloud notifications and the normal Bambu Cloud workflow, leave the printer’s full LAN Only mode disabled. Printer Tools can still use the local IP address, serial number and LAN Access Code.
This is a parallel connection. Printer Tools does not take ownership of the printer or remove it from the Bambu account.
Enable only LAN Only Liveview when needed
For stock camera access on models that expose the setting, open Settings > Network on the printer and enable LAN Only Liveview. This permission allows the local camera service without switching the entire printer to LAN-only operation.
After enabling it, reopen Live View in Printer Tools. If telemetry already worked, you normally do not need to remove and add the printer again.
What remains local in Printer Tools
The app connects from your phone, tablet or computer to the printer’s local interfaces. Supported status, temperatures, job information, AMS data and compatible actions travel across the reachable LAN.
The stock camera is also opened locally through the transport used by that model. Printer Tools does not upload the live video to its own cloud for ordinary viewing.
What Bambu Handy continues to provide
Bambu Handy remains tied to the printer’s Bambu Cloud connection and account. Its remote access, manufacturer notifications and cloud-dependent workflow continue according to Bambu’s service and settings.
Do not add the same Printer Tools totals or notifications to Bambu Handy as if they were independent print jobs. They are two views of the same printer state.
Access away from home
A local Printer Tools connection does not automatically become internet access. Away from home, use a trusted VPN that gives the device a route back to the printer network. Do not forward MQTT, FTPS or camera ports directly from the router.
Bambu Handy can continue using its cloud path while Printer Tools uses the VPN path. Test the VPN with the same local IP address and apply least-privilege network rules.
Avoid settings that solve the wrong problem
Do not enable full LAN Only mode merely because a camera says connection refused. Start with the separate Liveview permission. Do not reset the printer or unlink the Bambu account when only the local IP changed.
Likewise, reinstalling Printer Tools cannot repair a blocked VLAN or restore an old DHCP lease. Diagnose the layer that failed.
A simple coexistence checklist
- Printer remains connected to Bambu Cloud.
- Full LAN Only mode remains disabled.
- LAN Only Liveview is enabled if the model requires it.
- Printer Tools stores the current local IP, serial and access code.
- Both devices can reach each other on the LAN.
- Remote local access uses a VPN, not exposed printer ports.

Frequently asked questions
Does Printer Tools sign in to my Bambu account?
No. Its normal local connection uses printer values, not your Bambu Cloud password.
Must I disable Bambu Handy notifications?
No. Keep the cloud connection if you want those notifications.
Does LAN Only Liveview disable the cloud?
No. It is a separate local camera permission. Full LAN Only mode is the setting that changes cloud behavior.
Can both apps show the same active print?
Yes. They can observe the same printer through different connection paths.
