How to reconnect Printer Tools after a Bambu Lab firmware or router update
A firmware update, router replacement or Wi-Fi change can leave a valid Printer Tools entry pointing at information that is no longer current. The app may not be damaged at all. The printer can have a new IP address, a changed LAN Access Code or a local camera permission that needs to be enabled again.
Use a controlled checklist before deleting anything.
Wait for the printer to finish updating
Do not interrupt firmware installation or power-cycle the printer while it is applying an update. Wait until the touchscreen returns to a normal state and the printer reconnects to the intended network.
Open the printer’s own network screen and confirm that it has a valid IPv4 address. If the printer itself is offline, repair that connection before testing Printer Tools.
Compare the IP address
Read the current address and compare it character by character with the saved Printer Tools entry. A new router normally uses a fresh DHCP lease table and may also use a different subnet, such as moving from 192.168.1.x to 192.168.0.x.
Edit the saved address instead of removing the whole printer. Once it works, reserve that address in the router for the printer’s network adapter.
Verify the LAN Access Code
Some resets and network changes can produce or expose a different local access code. Check the value on the printer and update only that field if necessary.
Do not send the code through chat or include it in a screenshot. It is a local credential, not a disposable pairing label.
Check model and serial detection
Keep the complete serial number. Printer Tools uses model information to choose the Bambu camera transport. New hardware variants can introduce a serial prefix that requires a current app version.
Update Printer Tools through the official store before editing the serial to resemble another model. Never falsify the prefix to force a camera method.
Re-enable local Live View
If MQTT telemetry returns but the camera says connection refused, open Settings > Network on the printer and enable LAN Only Liveview. Full LAN Only mode is not required.
Close and reopen the camera in Printer Tools. This forces a fresh connection with the current address, model and credential.
Review the new router configuration
Router migrations can enable guest isolation, place IoT devices in a restricted VLAN or block traffic between wireless clients by default. Test with the phone and printer on the main LAN.
The devices may use different Wi-Fi bands as long as the router bridges them. Do not solve the issue by forwarding printer ports to the internet.
Preserve evidence before a reset
If connection still fails, export a new encrypted log immediately after reproducing it. Note the previous and current network ranges, but redact public addresses and credentials.
A factory reset should be a final manufacturer-directed step, not the first troubleshooting action. It can change more values and make the original cause harder to identify.
Use the offline Bambu Lab checklist when several services fail together.
Frequently asked questions
Must I add the printer again after every firmware update?
No. Most updates need no change. Edit the existing entry only if an address, code or permission changed.
Why did a new router break local monitoring?
It can assign a new address or isolate devices even when both still have internet access.
Should I enable full LAN Only mode after an update?
Not for normal Printer Tools monitoring. Use the separate LAN Only Liveview setting for camera access.
Can I restore the old IP manually on the printer?
Prefer a router DHCP reservation unless the printer and network documentation explicitly support a static configuration.
